This class provides women with basic cooking skills around sanitation, proper handling of meat products; preparation skills including proper use of knives and kitchen utensils; collection and creation of recipes, and how to prepare nutritious food using utensils they have at their disposal including hot plates, skillets and microwaves.
Each class costs $75.00 (2/3 for cost of food and 1/3 goes to the peer instructor teaching the class.) Anyone can sponsor a class or support it in any denomination. If you are a women we welcome you to volunteer and join in on a class. Or just help us by spreading the message to your friends. Email [email protected] for any questions
To date we have logged the following stats with this program.
126 hours logged of training hours
210 women have had the opportunity to learn to cook
546 meals served
Top skills learned are:
1. how to prepare healthy meals using low-cost food
2. how to use a knife how to dice and chop
3. Learned where you can go to purchase low cost foods
4. learned new recipes now - now have a collection of recipes that they know how to prepare
5. learned patience and how to work with others.
