Group Admins
A single mother of three, Shirah Malka z”l, passed away after a long battle with cancer. Her 71-year-old mother, Stella, has guardianship of her three children (ages 9, 12 and 14) and is now responsible for raising them. Thank you to our community for stepping up to support this wonderful family.
Overview of Current Considerations
On behalf of the Zhornitsky / Zaydenberg family and those who set up the Ve’Ahavta Education Fund, we wish to thank each and every member of our Jewish community, near and far, who stepped up to love their neighbor as themselves.
Stella and her grandchildren are eternally grateful.
With your help, we have raised over $210,000 to supplement indispensable agency support and cover essential education costs for Shirah Malka’s 3 children for the next 5 years.
Individually and collectively, we have shown the meaning of community towards a family facing extraordinary hardship. We thank you for showing these incredible children that they matter. Your donation secured their access to educational opportunities that every child deserves. We deeply appreciate this act of caring and your ongoing support of all local agencies and synagogues who work tirelessly to lift individuals and families up in times of great need.
May we continue to go from strength to strength as a community, and may Shirah Malka’s memory always be for a blessing.

All allocation of funds will be approved and administered by the following three individuals: Rivki Yeshayahu (Kollel), Riki Oirechman (Lubavitch BC) and Marianna Schwartzman (close family friend). These funds are eligible to be used exclusively for educational purposes through any registered Canadian charity.
