The primary purpose of the Rise & Shine Foundation is to send deserving young athletes to summer camps focussed on life beyond the sporting arena.
Jay DeMerit's Captains Camps (registered non-profit) exemplify the programming supported by the Foundation. The all-encompassing curriculum prepares kids to take the transition to life after sport in stride, as opposed to being negatively impacted by the harsh reality that very few will actually make it to the big leagues. Lessons learned will help participants succeed within their sporting careers, but what sets Captains Camps apart from your typical sports camp is the emphasis on developing well-rounded, contributing members of society.
Professional athletes and esteemed coaches are brought to the camp to facilitate an unforgettable soccer experience. Other accomplished individuals form the ground-breaking mentorship program.
Some of the kids who are participating come from families facing financial limitations and the Foundation ensures that all deserving kids are given a chance.
