About The Essentials Fund
Launched in 2022 by a group of community volunteers, The Essentials Fund (TEF) has raised over $180,000 and provided unrestricted grants to Waterloo Region (WR) nonprofits the last four years of fundraising/granting! TEF’s goal is two-fold – to raise much needed funds to support WR non-profits and to raise awareness that orgs need this support in the form of a flexible, unrestricted grant to be used for their clients’ essential needs which could include basic toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste), bus tickets for appts., backpacks for possessions, seasonal clothing/footwear, infant needs (diapers, formula, clothing) and menstrual products to name a few items.
