Sea Smart's mission is to inspire and empower kids to love and protect our oceans. Through science education programs, Sea Smart helps youth understand the role they play in making the world a better place while having fun and fostering curiosity and connection with nature.
The Group's Purpose
Sea Smart uses fun, hands-on games and activities to teach kids in Kindergarten to Grade 12 about current issues impacting our oceans and get them brainstorming solutions in our school workshops, after school programs, and summer camps.
Created by marine biologist Dr. Elaine Leung, Sea Smart helps kids foster curiosity, connection and love with nature. Youth are spending over half of their waking hours behind a tv, computer, tablet, or phone. They are losing their connection with nature and this is a problem because you only protect what you love.
No oceans, no us. Sea Smart’s innovative curriculum teaches youth about ocean issues with a solutions-based approach that is much needed in this day and age when environmental problems are overwhelming and it is easy to lose hope.
