Group Admins
Our goal is to help animal charities in Manitoba. Specifically, when pet rescues take in animals, we want to help cover the vet bills so those pets can get healthy and find a new home. In addition, we want to raise awareness by sharing photos and stories to help those pets get adopted.
The Group's Purpose
Hi there! I'm Clinton Orr. My wife is Jodi Ruta and in 2020 we started a donor-advised-fund with Charitable impact, we call it Pet Life Animal Fund. We are both lifetime animal lovers and have had multiple pets growing up. However, our story really begins in 2012 with Bubba. We adopted Bubba from a no kill shelter. He had a rough start to life, prior to us taking him in, Bubba was adopted and returned twice! He joined our family when he was 5. Bubba was a lovable lab cross and we had 7 good years with him, he passed away in 2019. To say he had a big impact on our lives is an understatement. Bubba was the inspiration for Jodi to become a certified dog trainer. He also motivated us to be more involved with rescues. There are other Bubbas out there that need a good home! Jodi volunteered with D'Arcy's Arc for a few years. During this time we learned the shoe string budget that most rescues work on. We have donated to rescues regularly over the years, but in 2020, in honour of Bubba, we decided to increase our efforts. While volunteering at the rescue Jodi learned that most dogs that come into the facility are in need of veterinary care before they can be adopted. Those vet bills can take a big bite out of a rescue's budget. That is our purpose, to help Manitoba rescues cover those vets bills so our furry friends can get healthy and find a loving home. We started our donor advised fund in 2020, our first donation was over $12,000 to Manitoba Mutts to help cover the vet bills of a litter of puppies that had Parvo. Our second donations was $750 to Manitoba Underdogs to help a puppy with severe mange recover. We are increasing our efforts, we have launched a website and have started a giving group. Now others can participate and the story of these pups can reach a wider audience and hopefully we can help them find a new home. Every family deserves a Bubba!

About the Organizers
Clinton Orr is a portfolio manager for Canaccord Genuity. Jodi Ruta is a school bus driver and runs her own dog training and pet boarding business, Furry Godmother. Since Bubba's passing our furry family has grown. We have a cat, rescue dogs and dogs from breeders. We are proud parents of our furry pets: Ashes, Thor, Loki and Maxx. We posted some photos of our pets, as well as those we have been fortunate enough to help out.
