In a combination of despair about the state of the world and a desire to get a bit of exercise, three pals decided to run a 5k to raise money and awareness for the children of Palestine. June marked the 11th year of Israel's illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has subjected the nearly 2 million inhabitants to collective punishment and an escalating humanitarian crisis. I am running to help the Run for Palestine team raise $30,000 to provide essential psycho-social support for Gaza’s children, who have spent their lives under occupation with the constant threat of conflict. In 2014, Islamic Relief began a ten year intervention program to provide integrated psycho-social support for Gaza’s children, many of whom suffer from PTSD and other psychological conditions. The program is currently operating in its third year and working with 40 schools and 11 Community Based Organizations.
Donate. I know it sounds cliche, but any (really ANY) amount helps! If you are financially unable to donate (I totally understand), then send us some stretching tips or good vibes so we don't totally embarrass myself.
Run for Palestine is organizing its 9th annual run this year! Each year, Run for Palestine picks a project in Palestine to support. For more information, visit www.runforpalestine.com
