Group Admins
Let's Talk Science at the University of Victoria has been delivering free STEM outreach since 1995. Outreach volunteers deliver "hands-on, minds-on" activities to youth in Victoria and throughout British Columbia. We do classroom visits, hold large symposiums, and participate in local activities.
The Group's Purpose
We are the Victoria Outreach site for the national Let's Talk Science Outreach Program. We focus on providing educators and students with opportunities, promoting engaging STEM education inside and outside the classroom. We do classroom visits, hold symposiums and large events, and participate in community activities.
How to Help
We're hoping to raise money to fund symposiums and develop some new kits! Some kit ideas and recommendations we have received are "Stress and the Brain", "Rocket Science", and a Marine Biology kit for older students. Our large events planned for this year include a Climate symposium, the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, an Anthropology symposium, and the Let's Talk Science Challenge.
Let's Talk Science is proud to offer free activities to students in BC. However, many activities we do require consumables, which must be replaced, and holding large events requires us to rent rooms at UVic. Donations through this website will allow us to reach more students and continue to provide a wide range of science outreach opportunities.
