John was a passionate advocate for farming, food security and food sovereignty in the Shuswap and beyond. He was also a founding member of the Shuswap Food Action Coop, which later became a society and registered charity. His family asks that donations in his memory go towards this organization.
What is Shuswap Food Action Society?
Shuswap Food Action is a charitable organization that seeks to build community around local food. This includes education, policy advocacy and increasing access of local food through farmer's markets, local food boxes, school meal programs and community gardens. Tax receipts will be provided with all donations.
