In Her Circle is closing gaps in perinatal mental health care — mobilizing communities through fundraising, storytelling and advocacy.
Why This Matters
The transition into motherhood is often portrayed as joyful, but it is also one of the most vulnerable periods in a woman’s life. When a mother is not supported, her well-being and her baby’s are at risk.
In Canada, up to 1 in 4 women experience mental health challenges during pregnancy or in the year postpartum, yet many are never identified or receive appropriate care.
Families often face long waitlists, fragmented services and limited access to timely, specialized support.
When a mother needs to be admitted to hospital for mental health treatment, she is separated from her baby, leading to worse outcomes for both.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
In Her Circle is a nonprofit organization founded by people close to Jenna Dorman, grounded in our lived experience.
In late 2024, Jenna died by suicide following a severe postpartum mental illness. Despite relentless advocacy from her family and community, the healthcare system was not equipped to provide the level of care she needed during an acute crisis.

What we are raising money for
Funds raised on this page currently directly support In Her Circle's storytelling and education work. We believe that stories shift culture. Paired with leading research, we produce media to facilitate lived experience storytelling that reduces stigma, inspires dialogue, and builds public support for perinatal mental health care.
