In Her Circle is a community-led movement dedicated to raising awareness and supporting postpartum mental health in BC.

Why This Matters

The transition into motherhood is often portrayed as joyful, but it is also one of the most vulnerable periods in a woman’s life. When a mother is not supported, her well-being and her baby’s are at risk.

In BC, up to 1 in 4 women experience mental health challenges during pregnancy or in the year thereafter, yet many are never identified or receive appropriate care.

Families often face long waitlists, fragmented services and limited access to timely, specialized support.

For those experiencing more severe postpartum mental health challenges, integrated and continuous care is rarely available, leaving families to navigate complex systems without clear pathways to support.

This campaign is grounded in lived experience. In 2024, Jenna Dorman tragically died of postpartum suicide. Jenna was deeply loved by her family and supported by a strong, engaged community, and despite that, we were unable to help her access the level of care she needed during an incredibly acute period.

“In Her Circle” is inspired by the concentric circles of care that formed around Jenna in her illness, and calls on all of us to step into the circle of care surrounding mothers and families.

For more information about our why, and Jenna's story, see our press and media coverage.

What we are raising money for

Together, we've raised $32,000 for drop-in and responsive programming through the Pacific Post Partum Support Society, so that families can access care when it is needed most - and not months later.

Now, we're raising our goal to $50,000 and setting our sights on systems change through storytelling and advocacy.
