International Justice Mission (IJM) Canada has opened an office in the Dominican Republic and is in the process of setting up a group of trained individuals to deal with the injustices of human trafficking in that country, particularly in sexual slavery. The DR is the 4th largest destination point in the world for the sexual trafficking of children. The Dominican government is concerned about this statistic, and supports IJM Canada in its efforts to deal with this issue. There is much more at stake than releasing the oppressed. Victims need healing from physical and mental affliction, and IJM Canada has an “Aftercare” model which is in the process of being set up in the Dominican Republic.
Our proposal is quite simple. Olivet has provided $4,000 as seed money to cover start-up expenses. In our first year we matched donations dollar for dollar up to $6,000 and we're doing it again this year up to $5,000.
Please take time to pray and seriously consider being a monthly donor of $50 or any other amount you can give. Remember your donation will double with Olivet Baptist Church’s matching commitment.
Olivet Baptist Church's mission is to glorify God as a people united in love and committed to continuing the ministry of Christ our Lord on earth through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are convinced that part of fulfilling this mission is our strong support of Internation Justice Mission (IJM), a global organization protecting the poor from violence throughout the developing world. They partner with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors and strengthen justice systems.
