Members of the National Team will be running our juniors through 1.5 hours of instruction, covering all of the basics of field hockey, in a fun and supportive environment. All ages and abilities are welcome, especially those who are new to the sport. This will provide an excellent opportunity for the kids to learn from some of the best players in Canada, who are focussed on promoting field hockey to the youth in their community.
The National Team will also be signing autographs for the kids after each session, so please bring down sticks, t-shirts, or anything else you would liked signed. Parents are welcome to watch, and take pictures.
The session will be divided into groups tailored to the skill-level of the participants. From U8 --> U18, instructors will run age-specific drills and skills that get the kids ready for the upcoming junior season. The focus is on FUN!
Suggested donation per player is $20. You are welcome to donate less or more than this of course. All donations generate a tax receipt.
Funds raised will go directly to the National Team, to support their 2013/2014 programming, which includes the Pan American Cup this Summer, and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The Canadian Men's National Team has a proud heritage. Since their first appearance at the 1960 Olympics, the Men's National Team has always competed amongst the upper-echelons of world hockey. They are currently ranked 14th in the world by the FIH.
In the face of recent drastic funding cuts, they are inspired by the challenge of continuing to pursue their goals. To ensure long term success they recognize the need to create opportunities for the development of athletes at all skill levels. Canada’s National Athletes were once rookies at a club, inspired by the thought of representing their country. As elite-level athletes, they continue fighting for that dream - and igniting that flame in future generations.
