Great theatre is only of value if an audience has access to it. That is why Driftwood Theatre's Bard’s Bus Tour will always be available for Pay-What-You-Can admission. Driftwood plays in many communities that would not normally have access to professional theatre and perform in outdoor venues, completely accessible to all members of the public.
Driftwood is experiencing an unusual and very challenging funding crisis - two long-time funders declined to support this summer's tour. When asked why, their response was that they really do value what Driftwood does, but there simply wasn't enough money to go around and they could not fund all the worthy projects. We were heartbroken to hear this, but determined to press on!
I am asking you to help me keep Driftwood on the road. If many people give a small amount, we can replace the lost funding and keep the plans for the 2015 summer tour in tact. There is an army of Driftwood supporters rallying to raise the $25,000 needed. Please join us. The tour is booked. The actors have started rehearsal. We need your support today!
Please make a donation today - $10, $20, $50 or more. Every bit will help.
And then come to a show! There are performances in 25 communities across the province; Hamlet is sure to come to a neighbourhood near you. You can check out the tour schedule on the website: www.driftwoodtheatre.com
I'm Sue MacLeod - I am a lover of theatre, the arts in all our lives and a shameless bean beggar (in both my personal and professional life). I am proud to be a part of Driftwood Theatre Group's volunteer board of directors. We passionately work to ensure the Bard Bus Tour keeps on the road, providing great summer theatre across Ontario. Help me keep this invaluable tradition strong for many more years! With your help, I know we'll make a difference.
