Hey Everyone! Welcome friends, fans and family – you guys are the support that I needed to achieve the success in London this past summer… A journey on your own is a lonely one and I would not have an Olympic Silver Medal without all of your encouragement over the past 10 years.
But now that the Games are done I am shifting my focus and taking the time to transition properly from my sporting career to a new and exciting one, yet to be determined. Which is why now is a great time to support the charities I have listed below.
Thanks to a generous donation from Elysium Foundation, each $1 raised in this group will be matched, up to the first $10,000 we raise. So with that in mind, know that your support will end-up with a charity that has impacted me over the course of my athletic career.
Proceeds from this group will go to the following places:
1. University of Victoria Athletics - I began my rowing career in my first year of university, age 19, and want to give back to the school that facilitated my early development in rowing, and encouraged me to pursue National team goals.
2. Canadian Parkinson's Society - my grandmother passed away earlier this year after living with this disease for 18 years.
3. Canadian Cancer Society BC and Yukon Division - my youngest cousin (16yrs) was diagnosed with a brain tumour this summer and this organization provides support to patients and their families, along with funding research initiatives in prevention.
4. CANFund - I am a 4-time recipient from the Fund!
Thanks everyone for your continued support. Here’s to making a difference in our communities together!
