Ensemble Theatre Company mounts high quality productions of ambitious, challenging and engaging classical and contemporary plays in a summer repertory festival at the Jericho Arts Centre in Vancouver.
Our commitment to large cast, repertory theatre performed by a blend of established and early-career artists enables us to mentor young directors, actors and designers while mounting productions of important plays that would otherwise not be seen by Vancouver audiences.
Critically acclaimed since our first season, ETC has been described as the PBS of Vancouver theatre, with media reactions such as these:
“It's surprising that a small, no-budget theatre company like Ensemble Theatre Company scored this Canadian premiere … It's stunning that they do such an impressive job bringing the 150-character play to life", and
“Don’t let the quaint beachside location fool you. Ensemble Theatre Company serves up decidedly smart, unfluffy summer repertory fare by the waterside at Jericho Arts Centre.”
ETC needs ongoing financial support to transition from a revenue-sharing model to paying our artists professional wages, to increase the production values of our shows and to expand our season beyond the summer.
We also need our supporters to spread the word and help us establish a multi-generational and critical audience for challenging and important theatre.
ETC is led by our Artistic Director Tariq Leslie. Trained at the world-renowned London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Tariq has worked in the UK and Canada, performed with Ontario’s Shaw Festival and directed over 20 productions of classic and contemporary texts.
Tariq is supported by a professional management team including General Manager and project manager Michael Campbell, and financial manager James Gill, a professional financial advisor with the federal government. ETC’s board includes organizational psychologist and board chair Graham Bullen, founder and principal of AMBiT Consulting Dan Zollmann, businessman Joe Herron, and CA Jade Cheng.
