To help children and youth facing learning challenges achieve stronger learning outcomes—without the stigma of being singled out for special treatment.
Movement-based learning creates an inclusive environment where every child can participate and thrive, regardless of culture, language, or individual learning strengths. Trained teaching-artists use research-backed approaches rooted in movement, dance, and music to lead engaging group activities that make learning active, social, and creative.
Through a progressive 12-lesson curriculum, students build cognitive skills while also developing empathy, artistry, and leadership. By learning together through movement, children have the opportunity to discover their strengths, connect with others, and experience success in a way that feels natural, empowering, and inclusive.
OUR GOAL is to raise $25,000 in order to,
1. Fully-fund school programs for children under-served by arts enrichment
2. Provide free after-school programs for children and families living in economically-stressed communities
3. Provide professional development training opportunities for educators, program leaders and organizations working with vulnerable populations.
Donate now and ignite the power of joyous and rigorous learning for all children regardless of means.
DARE-2-Danzkool is a collaboration between the Danzkool Company and the Charitable Impact Foundation dedicated to enriching the lives of children and youth through dance education.
Tim Mah is a dynamic dance educator and a passionate advocate for the power of dance to transform lives. Inspired by the science behind childhood learning and development, he created “DARE-2-Dance-Your-Brain”, a unique dance-themed program that combines skilled-movement, live music, and the art of dancing into tasks designed to scaffold learning, enhance social and emotional development, and foster good mental health.
The science is out. Adele Diamond, distinguished UBC-professor of neuroscience, considers learning to dance invaluable for advancing critical skills needed for higher-Executive Function. Notably, teachers who participated in DARE-2-Dance programs observed higher levels of motivation among their students, particularly those with attention deficits and other diverse learning needs.
In the words of a 6th-grade teacher at a Richmond school, “I’ve seen dance programs come and go in my 20 years here, but this is the first that got every kid engaged, including the ones who never do anything.”
Thanks to support from our donor community, DARE-2-Dance programs have been in-residence at schools across Greater Vancouver—including Sir James Douglas, Queen Alexandra, and Simon Fraser Elementary Schools, and Prince of Wales Secondary in Vancouver; Cascade Heights Elementary in Burnaby, and Samuel Brighouse, and William Bridges Schools in Richmond, to name a few. In the community, we previously partnered with the St. James Music Academy, the Pacific Immigrant Services Society, and the Boys And Girls Club.
