Group Admins

A project that aims to inspire students to pursue passions both in and out of the classroom. Our reward-based template encourages students to choose from a variety of school subjects and outdoor activities that they wish to master.

The Group's Purpose

Hello, my name is Ben Chaddock and I live to connect and inspire those in my community.

What started as a single bicycle safety rodeo in my college town in 2008, has undergone a six year metamorphosis into Bicycle-Inspired Kinetics in Elementary Schools. Combining the personal accounts of my professional cycling career with academic insights from professional guest speakers centered upon environmental and economic issues, I aim to develop BIKES 2014 into a learning and inspirational tool for elementary school classes in locations within North America where I train and compete.

As the name B.I.K.E.S. and its capstone message 'Dream Big' suggests, I aim to get young people moving and inspired. Whether it's bicycles or any sport, I believe the self-confidence a young person gains through a healthy and active lifestyle is critical to discovering that they do have the power to dream goals and then pursue them.

With this program the students see and hear from people who have dreamt then pursued their goals successfully, across a wide assortment of possible pursuits. The aim is to illustrate that, like others have done, the students can pursue their passion interest and achieve their dream goals.

In 2014, we've developed a rewards system that enables students to earn points by pursuing top grades in their favourite curriculum segments and favourite outdoor activities.

How to Help

You can help grow THE BIKES PROJECT by supporting your child or student's achievement by chimping us a donation. Rewards points earned translate to dollars raised which means that we can congratulate the students with tangibles gifts and awards like cycling products, opportunities to visit with their favourite guest speaker on the video series, and bring Ben back into the class room for a bicycle safety rodeo in the school parking lot!

As a self-reporting program, we rely on everyone's best efforts to create our project's goal atmosphere of a creative and healthy classrooms....and keep it simple and fun!

The more people involved, the more fun this becomes! Please share with parents and students who you think may enjoy our rewards-based pursuit of creative and inspired classroom communities.

About the Organizers

Ben grew up alpine racing with Olympic aspirations but at 22 he moved on to complete a degree in Environmental Economics. After graduating in 2010, he was offered a pro cycling contract and finally realized his childhood dream of competing as a professional. In 2012, Ben won the Canadian Criterium championship, a dream goal of his. So he thought "better make the most of this", and he created THE BIKES PROJECT. Thanks for reading!
