About the Organizers

On April 26th, Betty Lu, former president of the Byng Inclusion Project 3B and Miss World Canada 2015 Delegate, is bringing Harmony In Action to Vancouver again. To be held at the Musqueam Cultural Pavilion, the event will include a wide range of cultural performances from Vancouver’s most celebrated artists, featuring First Nations drumming and singing by the Musqueam Wolf Pack, solo by celebrity singer Ms. Ruoxi Liu, Chinese and Korean dances by the Cindy Yang Dance Academy of Canada, as well as award-winning Indian dance and more.

ABOUT BETTY LU: As a strong believer in the value of multiculturalism, 20-year-old Betty Yunlei Lu has dedicated her life to promoting awareness, raising funds and empowering young people in her community. As a Chinese Canadian, Betty believes that cultural diversity is Canada’s identity and strength and that respecting and celebrating our varied cultures will lead to increased harmony and happiness for all Canadian residents.

In 2008, Betty became one of the founding members of the Vancouver School Board SWIS Program Byng Inclusion Project 3B to “bridge, bond and build” stronger relationships between students and families from different cultural backgrounds. The club has trained over 500 volunteers who collectively contributed over 17,000 service hours promoting positive social causes. The Byng Inclusion Project 3B has received recognition by the City of Vancouver for its outstanding contribution towards cultural harmony in Vancouver.

Betty is a 3rd year scholarship-winning finance and international business student at the Sauder School of Business at UBC and dreams of using her business sense and leadership skills to make the world as culturally diverse as her home, Canada.

FREEZE MOB FOR VARIETY: On Family Day, February 9th at Robson Square downtown Vancouver, Betty Lu organized a mob of over 200 volunteers from lower mainland to freeze for three minutes to raise awareness for children who have special needs in BC.
