Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports ("VASS") provides ski and snowboard programs for disabled students of all ages at the Vancouver based ski mountains. Programs include: a variety of Learn-to-Ski programs for skill levels, Learn-to-Snowboard programs for all skill levels, Drop-In ski programs, Adaptive Race programs and Sit-Ski programs.
The season started with early snow and VASS offered a similar program profile to past years teaching a total of approximately 1,000 ski/snowboard lessons with approximately 10,000 volunteer hours through our programs. We were able to train 81 Level 1 Canadian Association of Adaptive Skiing (CADS) certified instructors, and had 2 instructors pass CADS Level 3 Course Conductor 1 certications and one instructor achieve his CADS Level 4. Our newest program, Ski and Snowboard for children with Autism (formally a partnership with Canucks Autism Network (CAN)), was run for the 4th season with 15 skiers and 6 snowboarders, on our own, with only VASS instructors.
