Toronto Humane Society’s mission, reflecting our position as a Canadian leader in animal welfare, is to improve the lives of animals. We work towards this goal through three core pillars:

1. Improving Access to Care – With the cost of veterinary care increasing year over year, families from all walks of life are finding it difficult to afford emergency treatment for their pets, let alone preventive care. Through initiatives like our low-cost Public Veterinary Services, with fees around 50% of private veterinary clinic fees, we aim to ensure that every family can access care.

2. Reducing Animal Homelessness – To reduce the number of animals without homes, we combat overpopulation through spay/neuter initiatives, and we provide a variety of resources that help guardians avoid surrender, such as the Pet Parent Support Network to answer pet-related questions.

3. Preserving the Human-Animal Bond – We recognise that the best place for an animal is in the home that loves them. Our goal is to preserve the Human-Animal Bond by helping to keep animals out of the shelter system – and with their families. Our Community Support initiatives assist guardians by providing essential needs such as pet food and supplies.
