The South Community Birth Program (SCBP) provides a full range of primary pregnancy and postpartum care services to pregnant people and their families in the metro Vancouver area. In 2007, the SCBP established a non-profit charity, South Foundation, to raise funds to support pregnant people who are structurally marginalized (IBPOC, new immigrants and low-income families) with additional assistance like food vouchers, gift cards, bus and taxi cards, translation services, counselling services, baby clothes, newborn necessities, and doula support in 15 different languages. South Foundation also funds attendance at Connecting Pregnancy groups with a goal of creating community.
Together, SCBP with support from South Foundation, are committed to providing a doula (a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during labour and birth) from the diverse multicultural doula program to every family in care that wants one.

South Foundation's Purpose:
South Foundation provides material and emotional support for pregnant people who are structurally marginalized. We believe that belonging to a community is an essential component of long-term family health. Our work fosters community for those who might not have one. This begins during pregnancy and continues through birth and early parenthood.

South Foundation's Mission:
To nurture every new family in a supportive village.
South Foundation's team of doulas and cultural translators provide accessible and culturally appropriate care to our birthing families. We also provide day-to-day living support, subsidized counselling as well as pregnancy and postpartum education.

South Foundation's Vision:
We envision a network of strong, vibrant communities with equitable care for all to have safe, connected birth and early parenting experiences.
