Mennonite Economic Development Associates of Canada creates business solutions to poverty around the world. The organization began as an association of Mennonite business people who believed in sharing their abilities and resources generously. As a Christian development organization, MEDA welcomes all who share their values and want to join their mission. Their vision is that all people may unleash their God-given potential to earn a livelihood. They aim to help families provide for themselves and enrich their communities. The organization focuses on sustainable, scalable, measurable and replicable solutions to poverty.

MEDA operates internationally across more than 70 countries worldwide. The organization works primarily in agri-food market systems in the Global South. They focus especially on women and youth in rural communities. In 2020, MEDA supported 23 projects across 58 countries in Africa, Asia, Central America, and Europe. Their work spans multiple continents while maintaining strong partnerships with local governments and organizations. The organization brings together thousands of members and supporters across North America and Europe.

MEDA's programs center on five main areas of work. These include Impact Investment, Market Systems, Environment and Climate Change, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, and Inclusive Financial Services. The organization provides training, loans and mentorship to entrepreneurs. In 2020, MEDA helped 196,270 clients directly and 1,705,957 people indirectly. They provided green technology to 8,355 clients in Kenya for more efficient business operations. In Pakistan, their Women Empowerment Through Livestock Development project trained 75,000 women farmers. Results showed 80% of dairy farmers and 89% of entrepreneurs reported higher incomes five years after training.
