HALO (Southern Alberta MedicAir Society) is a dedicated medevac helicopter service for southern Alberta. HALO Air Ambulance operates as the only Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) Program dedicated to southern Alberta. The program began in July 2007 after extensive planning and fundraising efforts. HALO is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who work to keep the service operational. The organization receives minimal government funding and relies primarily on donations from individuals, corporate partners, and regional municipalities. Importantly, no patient has ever received a bill from HALO for their services.
