The Fraser Valley Youth Society (FVYS) is a not for profit, charitable organization located in the Fraser Valley. We provide LGBTQ+, allied and at risk youth with opportunities for personal growth and leadership through our workshops, programs and community connections.

We operate a weekly drop-in (Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack) to connect youth and young adults to a healthy and vibrant LGBTQ+ community, as well as, other special events and programs throughout the year. This is a safe and inclusive space for the youth to be among their peers and talk about issues they are facing. Youth can come and share experiences, learn life skills, build resiliency skills and gain social supports.

We also offer LGBTQ+ presentations to groups within the communities we serve.

The society has gone from a group of volunteers running an Abbotsford weekly drop-in to a part-time staff working along with our dedicated volunteers to run weekly drop-ins in three communities.

We believe a positive, inclusive and safe environment for these youth is very important. This extends beyond our programs to our communities. Our youth need a safe, happy and healthy community to grow up in. You can help to make a difference and remove the barriers for our youth!

Mission

To build and maintain networks and opportunities for learning, support and expression among, around and about queer youth in the Fraser Valley.

Although we have been giving presentations to outside service agencies, schools, etc we now have a formal Education and Awareness program. There has been a large increase in requests for presentations from outside our organization to better understand LGBTQ2S+ terms, risk factors and best practices from supporting these at risk youth.
