Our Mission:
To collect fresh, nutritious food every day and distribute it to those people in need within the Halton region and surrounding areas.
What We Do:
Food for Life is a registered non-profit charitable organization that assists in filling the gap between social assistance and living costs by providing nutritious perishable food to families on a weekly basis. Seven days a week, we collect surplus perishable food from grocery stores and both retail and wholesale food suppliers. Our emphasis is on fresh food that we can deliver quickly to those in need through our network of nearly 100 community agencies and outreach programs throughout Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Acton and Georgetown.
Food for Life is able to divert approximately 2 million pounds of food annually from landfills and direct it to more than 24,000 client visits each month in Halton region. Our network of approximately 800 volunteers assist us in remaining extremely lean in our operation which ensures the maximum amount of donated funds go to our programs. These efficiencies allow us to allocate 93% of funds received to our programs and just 7% to management and administration fees.
