What we do

The Burnaby Neighbourhood House is a grass roots, community driven, charitable organization providing a wide range of supportive programs and services that are accessible, affordable, and available to people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.


Our mission is to make a neighbourhood a better place to live.


Our goal is to enable people to enhance their lives and strengthen their community.


Our challenge is to work with our community to develop innovative programs and services that meet the changing needs of a diverse population.


Our Programs and Services:


  • Community Events, such as multicultural dinners, social gatherings, and summer BBQs

  • Information and Referral to programs and services in the community

  • Youth Leadership program aimed at youth from 13 to 20 years old

  • Volunteering, where we provide skills, experience, and a chance to make a difference in the community

  • After School programs provided to children requiring extra support

  • Family Drop-in for parents of children 0 to 5 years old, providing support for families

  • Neighbourhood Outreach, reaching out to isolated families with children 0 to 5 years old

  • Volunteer-led programs, such as tax clinics, ESL, legal clinics, and social groups

  • Licensed school age and pre-school programs offered year round

  • Community Kitchens to support low income families and individuals

  • Adult Literacy, where we match tutors with individuals struggling with literacy

  • Seniors Outreach, where we reach out to isolated seniors in our community and connect them to services
