How are we different from other Rescues ? We are an all species (even farm animals) rescue who has been doing rescue work for over 25 years. All our animals are local or from BC Shelters. We agree there are many animals all over the world that need help but we focus on BC first as there are animals here in our own province that need help and sadly are still being euthanized or culled in remote areas. Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer-run, non-profit animal rescue organization in Victoria, B.C. We are a group of experienced rescuers who have united to improve the lives of unwanted, neglected, and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island and, when resources permit, in remote communities and elsewhere in B.C. We try to help the many pets in the shelter system considered less adoptable because of medical or behavioral problems or simply because their colors, age, or breeds are currently unpopular. At Broken Promises Rescue we believe that all animals deserve a life without pain, hunger, or loneliness. We want them to know they are loved and cherished despite appearance, age, or medical condition. We are also dedicated to raising awareness of animal suffering and to educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership. Thus we hope to influence public opinion and mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer through ignorance and indifference. Where we help: Our main focus is to work closely with BC Shelters and facilities who are over loaded and adoptions are low and don’t have the resources for vet care or training. Why we do this: We do this because there are hundreds of animals each year sitting in BC Local Shelters that are overlooked or in dire need of medical care. If you look at our “Before and After” you can see some of the animals we get and what condition they are in when we get them and then see how they look after they received some vet care, a bath and lots of love …Our Mandate---Broken Promises Rescue is a volunteer run, not-for-profit, animal rescue organization located in the lower Vancouver Island. We are a group of long time rescuers that have come together to focus on improving the lives of unwanted, neglected and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island (as well as remote communities and other areas of B.C. if our resources allow us to.) Currently we are seeing many pets overlooked in the shelter system because they have less than desirable qualities. They may have medical or behavioral issues or they may simply be the wrong color, age or breed. At Broken Promise Rescue we believe all animals deserve to experience a life without pain, loneliness or hunger and want them to know what it feels like to be loved and cherished, despite appearance, age or medical condition. We are also dedicated to public education and raising awareness to help end the ongoing abuse, neglect and suffering. Educating children and adults about the responsibilities of animal ownership will go a long way in influencing public opinion on proper animal care, and help mold a more compassionate future. No animal should suffer at the hands of ignorance.
