In 2017, Bridges Social Development continued executing our Unveiling Youth Potential Leadership development and Mentorship programming with Indigenous and immigrant communities in Calgary and the surrounding area. Our programs focus on on-site training with community based partners, follow-up mentorship support to youth and young adults with volunteer and staff mentors, and hosting events focused on youth leadership and social entrepreneurship development.

In 2017, we undertook a new initiative in supporting the Nakoda Youth Council to plan, fundraise and carry out a trip to the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issued for youth from their community. It was the first time a delegation from the community had traveled to this type of event, and not only expanded their potential, by developing skills and learning to understand and overcome challenges and issues in their community, but also created connections between them and many other youth and young people, politicians and leaders from around the world.
