The Bothwell-Zone & District Historical Society operates the Bothwell-Zone oil museum. The Society maintains the historical 1896 powerhouse. Volunteers who are members of the Society conduct tours for the public. The Society takes an active role to promote the historical importance of the Town of Bothwell as well as the surrounding area.
The Society is undertaking a project at the Bothwell-Zone Oil Museum to improve the outer appearance of the Powerhouse while maintaining the historic integrity of the building. The Society will continue researching the archives for past information relating to the oil industry. The Society will work with other non profit groups in 2018 for the Chatham-Kent Archaeology Symposium. The theme is Black History which is part of the legacy for this area
