The Bayham Historical Society continues to pursue fundraising activities as well as promote interest in Edison & our local history. Celebrating Canada's 150th at EdisonFest & a display on methods of travel since 1867 was set up. The 2017 museum theme, including connections between Vienna, TA Edison, (the Inventor) & family, his friend Henry Ford, their travel related inventions & the current relevance of an Edison company, found amidst the establishment of wind turbines locally, were displayed at the Legislature in Toronto. Canada's veterans were honoured as part of the annual Edison dinner & silent auction. Relevant local historic articles are reviewed & discussed at meetings. Participation in community events.
2018 will include ongoing family activities, an historic Vienna & Edison Pioneer Cemetery walking tour, an Edison Mystery Car Cruise & BBQ +, a family Christmas carolling & tree lighting, & a 30th year celebration of the opening in 1988 of the museum, all in support of the Edison connection to our local history. Utilizing newer technology, popular local history books & visual projects will be updated & reprinted, meeting minutes scanned & transferred to the County archives.
