1. Promote stronger ties between Canada and Asia, conducted research and analysis on public policy issues affecting Canada-Asia relations. 2. Conduct applied research and provide commentary on Asia Pacific political, economic and cultural issues. 3. Maintain the Canadian Secretariats of Canada National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (CANCPEC); Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council (ABAC); and the APEC study Centre in Canada. 4. Conduct workshops, conferences and other information sessions on various issues related to econoic and political developments in the Asia Pacific.5. Maintain website (asiapacific.ca) for the purpose of disseminating news, information and analysis of Canadian relations with Asia and other countries on the Pacific Rim. 6. Offer research grants to support policy research and discussion on Canada's relations with Asia. 7. Partner with universities and think-tanks on activities related to Asia-Pacific research. 8.
