What we do
The Savary Island Land Trust Society (SILT) is a non-profit registered charity dedicated to the protection of natural areas and biological diversity on Savary Island. When SILT began in 1997, there was no protected land on Savary Island. Today through our efforts and those of The Nature Trust of BC, the Province of BC and the Friends of Savary Island, 43% of Savary is protected. Since it began, SILT has acquired 21 parcels on Savary Island, primarily by donation. SILT provides information to the public about the unique and rare ecosystems found on Savary through its website and newsletter and is involved in stewardship activities in some of the sand ecosystems on the Island.
