I am joining Decoda Literacy Solutions, the only province-wide literacy organization in British Columbia. Decoda provides resources, training and funds to support community-based literacy programs and initiatives in over 400 communities across the province. Decoda’s work supports children and families, adult learners, and Aboriginal and immigrant communities in an effort to build strong individuals, strong families and strong communities.

Make your answers count! This September, use your knowledge to support literacy in your community! Join us on Sunday, September 28th from 3-7 p.m. for one of the fastest-growing activities in Metro Vancouver – trivia nights!

This isn’t just any boring old fundraiser. We’ve made it easy and fun! There’s an amazing Grand Prize for the top fundraising team and we’ve lined up prizes for best costumes, fabulous door prizes, and of course, prizes for the winning trivia team. We’ll even provide a free burger and a beverage!

Hosted by Butcher and Bullock Pub and Nice Guys Trivia, you and five friends can show off your trivia skills, get creative with your costumes, meet new people and have a blast…all while supporting a great cause!

Why literacy?

Literacy is important to all British Columbians. Whether it’s a child getting an early start, a young mother looking to upgrade her skills to go back to school, or an individual trying to find a new job, when we make literacy a priority, good things happen: we create jobs, we improve health, we reduce crime.

As part of the Literacy is Life campaign, proceeds from the Trivia Team Challenge will stay right here in British Columbia to support community-based literacy programs and initiatives for people in over 400 communities.

Seven easy steps:
1. Gather your team (up to six players)
2. Choose your team name
3. Set up your web page
4. Pick out your costumes (optional)
5. Brush up on your trivia
6. Raise some funds (min $500 per team)
7. Have fun!

Make your answers count and together we will help create jobs, improve health, reduce crime, and build strong individuals, strong families and strong communities.

Each team (2-6 players) must raise a minimum of $500 by noon on September 27th to be eligible to compete. That’s less than the cost of a specialty coffee per day! Register your group by clicking "start a giving group" on your upper right and start fundraising today! For more information on how you can help, contact: Gail Hanney, Director, Fund Development at [email protected].

*Please note: due to the venue type, all participants must be over the legal drinking age.*
