Run for Palestine is a family oriented, fun filled day that welcomes all members of the community. Going on for 8 years, this year we plan on making it the biggest and most successful year yet.
Run for Palestine (RfP) is a family oriented, fun filled day in Toronto that welcomes all members of the community where participants can walk or run 5 km to raise funds for much needed humanitarian projects helping the Palestinian people.
Because of your strength and devotion, 600 attendees showed their support for the Palestinian people in 2015 Run for Palestine - Toronto, and your generosity allowed Run for Palestine to raise $35,000 to three humanitarian projects (includes donations, sponsors, and ticket sales). Kindergarten in Bourj el-Barajneh refugee camp in Lebanon, solar panels for hospitals in Gaza, and a community mental health program in Gaza.
Palestinians want to live in dignity like the rest of us. They want to be educated, they want access to water resources, they want electricity. The reality is that while we enjoy these without obstacles, Palestinians face obstacles when trying to meet these basic needs.

Power outages remain a daily reality in the Gaza strip, often lasting more than 16 hours a day. Sick patients are especially vulnerable, where insufficient power often decides between life or death. The EmpowerGaza health project will be continuing their mission by installing solar panels to four hospitals in Gaza, providing green energy 24 hours a day to emergency rooms, intensive units, and operating theatres.
With only 30% of secondary students continuing to university, Run for Palestine has found this to be a critical area to begin funding. With this number increasing on a year to year basis. The impact of giving students a post secondary education is needed in the region to continue to educate the Palestinian people in order to succeed and grow as the future generations come.

The Blue & Pink Kindergarten is in the Bourj el-Barajneh Refugee Camp located in Lebanon. The refugee camp is situated at the edge of the municipality. The League of Red Cross Societies established the camp in 1948 to accommodate an influx of Palestinian refugees from present-day northern Israel. According to UNRWA more than 20,000 Palestinian refugees live in the camp, though originally only 10,000 were planned to live in the one square kilometer site. After the crisis in Syria, many Syrian refugees moved to the camp, dramatically increasing its population. The kindergarten is the longest project supported by Run for Palestine. We are happy and honoured to continue supporting its teachers and children once again. This year the allocated money will be used to properly secure the playground area and supply it with age appropriate playground equipment.
The disabled school, held at the Palestinian Arab Centre (also located in Bourj el-Barajneh), helps provide refugee children and young people with special needs living in the camp with a wide range of projects, including tutoring, health and psychological assistance as well as promoting literary and artistic talents. They are hoping to extend educational and recreational activities by adding an extra day per week.
