‘Run for Palestine's’ charity run on August 23, 2015 is a family-oriented, fun-filled day that welcomes all members of the community. All donations go to registered Canadian charities.

WHAT YOU WILL IMPACT

In 2014 we held our most successful event yet, raising $25,000. These funds were distributed among a variety of Canadian charities, which used them to support the following projects in Palestine and Lebanon:

Kindergarten in Bourj el-Barajneh Refugee Camp in Lebanon - 28,000 Palestinian refugees call the narrow alleys of the Bourj el-Barajneh Refugee Camp home. You helped enable this school, named 'Azrak wa Zahir (meaning blue and pink), to purchase supplies and employ qualified teachers throughout the year.

Solar Panels for Hospitals in Gaza - Electricity outages are a common occurrence in Gaza, and more so during conflicts. You helped fund a project that makes Gaza hospitals less reliant on Gaza's main power plant.

Community Mental Health Program in Gaza - This program helps empower vulnerable refugees in Gaza, especially children, to better cope with the extreme challenges they face on a daily basis. Through the program, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) provides school counseling, group sessions, and even at-home counseling for those in need who are unable to travel.

WHO WE WORK WITH

100% of the donations are distributed equally among two Canadian charities and a United Nations agency, all of which have a history of working with disadvantaged Palestinians in Palestine, and refugees across the Middle East. All donations receive a tax donation receipt.

Medical Aid for Palestine (MAP) - MAP initiates humanitarian and development projects that have a durable impact on the living conditions of Palestinians. Some of their projects include the development of playgrounds, pre-school education in Gaza, and scholarships for women.

United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) -UNRWA is the official UN agency responsible for relief and human development for 5 million Palestinian refugees in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan.

Islamic Relief Canada - This is a Canadian registered charity that has provided humanitarian relief in Palestine since 1994. Projects in the region have included food distribution, medical relief, and orphan sponsorship. Islamic Relief has also established educational enhancement centres, care programs for traumatized children, and a school for the deaf.
