What is the Richmond Christmas Fund?
The Christmas season is a special time of year - a time to celebrate with loved ones and create memories that will last forever. Unfortunately, not everyone can share in the holiday spirit. Many Richmond residents don't have the financial means to prepare a festive meal, let alone purchase gifts. At Richmond Cares Richmond Gives, they don't want anyone to miss out on the holiday season. That's why they run the Richmond Christmas Fund.
Each year, the Christmas Fund distributes grocery vouchers to individuals and families in need. Children 11 and under also receive toys, books, and sports equipment, while youth aged 12 to 17 are given gift cards.
The program is supported by nearly 150 volunteers, who contribute well over 2,000 hours annually. Hundreds of other Richmond residents, businesses, and community groups donate cash and toys. We've put the word out to Santa: if he's ever recruiting new elves, Richmond is full of amazing candidates.
Who will my donation help?
The Richmond Christmas Fund is a non-religious, non-discriminatory program. They provide assistance to low-income individuals and families living in Richmond, BC, who do not have the financial means to celebrate the holidays. Over 2,200 residents are helped each year.
Please note that the Christmas Fund is not a government program, and is supported almost entirely by donations from the community. The program exists thanks to the incredible generosity of Richmond residents and business leaders.
How are you recognizing donors?
Donors to this challenge will be recognized in a special email from the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and in a dedicated ad by the Richmond Christmas Fund in the Richmond News.
Donations of $20 or more will be eligible for a tax receipt.
