Keys to the Streets is a project that brings free, brightly painted pianos to Vancouver public spaces. Begun in 2013, it has quickly become a cherished and whimsical feature of our streets.
About The Program
A volunteer run operation, Keys to the Street is inspired by similar pop-up piano initiatives which have appeared in cities such as Montreal, Toronto, and New York.
We seek to build upon this spirit of inspiring music and creativity in our urban environment through revisiting the public piano concept in a way that is uniquely supported by Vancouver community organizations.
We Need Your Help!
Keys to the Streets requires funding to roll out onto Vancouver's streets each summer.
Please consider making a donation to your favourite piano or to the program in general. We can't do it without you!
The money raised goes towards the costs of running a program where the average installation piece weighs 800 pounds, needs care, maintenance, winter storage, and regular tuning by a professional.
