This year Vancouver's technology sector is getting together to raise money for the Downtown Eastside... in an epic ping-pong tournament... known as #Techpong. We're looking to send our best, while giving back to the community that supports Vancouver's technology ecosystem.

Have you ever dreamed of playing ping pong for more than just a high five from Tarik? (Broooooo, beaaauty!) Well, here’s your chance. Hootsuite has been invited to participate in Vancouver's first ever #techpong tournament on October 1st and we need to find players to represent our company.

What is #techpong???

It's ping pong with purpose. 16 of Vancouver's hottest tech companies will be raising donations for charities doing valuable work in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (DTES). For us, this means an opportunity to raise money to support The Next Big Thing, a non-profit foundation close to Hootsuite’s collective heart. All the funds we raise will help fund and develop programs like the Fall DTES CodeCamp, which will be educating students directly from DTES elementary and high schools.

Now let's play some ping pong!

To decide on the 1 singles player and 1 doubles team that will rep the Owl at #techpong, and raise the minimum $1000 charitable donation entry fee, we will be hosting Hootsuite's first ever #wimblepong tournament!

Put down your ice buckets, strap on your headband, don some pearly whites and prepare for bad british jokes! It’s $10 (donation for charity, remember) to enter for singles players and $20 for a doubles team. DEADLINE to enter is August 29th.

Organizers will be awarding additional entries into #Techpong to companies that go above-and-beyond the $1000 minimum raise, so lets raise the bar before we raise the trophy.
