We Need to End This Disease

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a devastating, progressive neurological disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for voluntary muscle movement. Over time, people living with ALS lose the ability to move, speak, swallow and breathe. Average survival is approximately three to five years from symptom onset, although the course of the disease varies. There is an urgent need for more effective treatments and a cure.

Courage to Fight ALS brings together individuals, communities, charities, researchers, clinicians and corporate partners in a shared commitment to accelerate progress against ALS. Building on the strength of the hockey community, the movement is expanding to engage supporters from all walks of life. The Courage to Fight ALS Fund pools resources to support initiatives that advance research, treatment access and collaboration. The Fund is supported by an Advisory Council that brings together leading ALS experts and people with lived experience to help inform funding priorities and decisions.
